Avery is now almost 3 months old! She is smiling all the time and trying to giggle. Her thighs are on the road to chubbiness. At about 10.5 weeks she finally started going to bed before 11pm.. what a dream child. She is really chilled, quiet and calm. Just what we needed after the hurricane Finn.

The other day finn and lou came home from a simple trip to the post office. Finn had a really cheap looking $10 koala with a aust flag which he proudly talked louise into buying for him. Louise said she couldnt help it because he made his cute face. I asked him to show me the face...here it is.
Then he said "or sometimes i just stare at her like this..." haha

Jelly Baff... a really gross thing that Finn loved. You put powder into the tub and it turns the water into goo in whatever color you have. Then when you are done you add another packet of powder and voila, back to water!! Really cool actually but goooooooey!

I took Finn to see Dorothy Meets Santa Claus the other day. What a horribly awful, boring, cheap movie... he loved it! I loved the big box of popcorn we shared and the fact that we were the only 2 people in the theatre.
Bondi Beach was gorgeous last week. It was a perfect day, not too hot, not too cold and the water was refreshing.

Finn came home from childcare with spiderman face and then wanted to wear these monster teeth. SCARY!!
The Batman costume I bought on ebay for $12 from Hong Kong didnt arrive in time (it came today!!) so we had to go and buy a costume. Teenage mutant ninja turtles, I like it better anyway.

Indoor Rock Climbing

We went to the indoor rock climbing centre today. Finn has wanted to go ever since I told him there was a place where he could climb walls like spiderman. It took him a few times before he understood that he wouldnt fall if he let go of the wall. IN other words he was terrified at first and screamed like a girl a lot. Once he got the hang of it, he was really good!

Cairns

Our second week was spent in sunny Cairns! SO MUCH to do for kids, Finn was in heaven.

His new buddy named Archie. They were inseparable...
The crocodile park was a huge success, we even got to hold one. The one above was HUGE and scary looking.
Patting a Kangaroo or Wallaby or something like that.

We found Louise' s long lost brother Louie the crocodile, he was 50 years old.
Finn worked his magic on our hosts Leigh and Mel.

We took the old steam train to Kuranda. The poor old man sitting across from us soon became Finns main man. He even wanted to hold hands with him when we stopped halfway up the mountain for a look!

The windy windy trip over to the island on the boat. YOu cant really tell just how windy it was but we had to go down below after this photo cause finn was terrified!!Look closely at the man in the white briefs!! These 2 Indian men walked down on the beach right beside us and started stripping off, we thought oh no they aren't.... and oh yes they did. The other one had boxers on but this guy and tighty whities and they both headed straight for the water. Almost everyone on the beach was staring and trying to take pictures. I was in the water with Finn and then I turned around and Louise is doing a photoshoot for them. They had come over and asked her to take a whole bunch of photos of them. She said for one of the photos she zoomed right in on the guy in briefs crotch. Funny thing was they were sitting beside us on the boat ride back....haha

Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast

On our recent trip to Queensland we spent the first week in Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast. Finn had a blast with Zoe, Jack and Sam... You could tell he was a city kid when all the kids were running around in the backyard barefoot and Finn was struggling from tender feet on the ground.
The Ginger Factory was a hit with the kids.
Train ride around the park.
Finn was scared on the boat at first. It was a bit like its a small world ride without the annoying music.

Due to sad circumstances I was back in Fredericton briefly at the end of June. My grampa passed away at age 93 :(

Finn's favorite present of all came from someone elses pile of rubbish. After scouring the net and stores to try and find some hockey sticks I came up very empty handed. It's just not that popular here. A few days after Finn's bday louise and finn came across a pile of 'junk' outside our neighbours house. Two nearly perfect street hockey sticks. Adult size but still... Finn was so excited and we have been practicing in the backyard ever since. He loves them!!

We had two big parcels from Canada with a few visitors this week. Since the US unwrapped them all we had to re package.
Finn is no longer interested in clothes but we loved them. He loved all his presents from Naynay, Popsy and the Chaks!

Our mini holiday down to Beach House Blue was great. The weather was perrrrrfect, although Finn's sleeping wasn't!

We didnt get many photos because if the CHAOS at our place.The two indians...
It was eat as you go and it took us over an hour to get about 15, 2-4 yr olds around to approx 12 houses!!
Who's the kid with no shoes? Oh that's Finn. In the excitement to get going we forgot to put shoes on the poor kid. Luckily Indians don't wear shoes....

The result above. We cut off all of Finns hair after I messed up his bangs this morning. We were trying to buzz it off but he screamed when we came near him with the clippers. Sooooo it's pretty much a hack job but it will have to do :)

Around 430am Sunday morning we ended up at the hospital with Finn. He was making the loudest, most horrifying noise and crying his head off. Sounded like he was dying even when he was just breathing. Croup. They gave him a steroid medicine and observed him for about 1hr and then let us go home. He's been ok since, just has a cold. No childcare on Monday so I scoured the city looking for something to do.

This was today at the mall. Finn was on a Wiggles car sporting his new hat.

At the Australian Museum yesterday. This stuffed dingo looked so real and was hiding along the displays. I couldn't get Finn away from it. We were there for over two hours! Who knew a museum could be so kid friendly :)

Spring Holiday 2009 - Beach House Blue

We went on our annual Spring Fling down the south coast to Huskisson nearly 2 weeks ago now. The first week it rained everyday! The second was better but still a bit cool for me. Here are a bunch of pics from the trip - in no particular order! Finn best mate Cameron and his moms came down for the second week so it was complete chaos. The boys shared a room and each slept on a bottom bunk. They were so excited it took hours to get them to sleep the first night :)The beach was gorgeous this day.

Don't let this tranquil photo fool you. Moments later, as Lou and Finn went to the water, the tent flew up in the air and I was chasing it down the beach for ages. Must have looked hilarious.

Finn's crib turns into a toddler bed and even though I wanted to contain him in a crib as long as possible we couldn't wait any longer. He was hoisting himself up on the side of the crib and swinging his legs up, nearly flipping over the edge....so on Sunday we transformed the crib. I was really worried about him getting up a hundred times but this is night 3 and it's been easy. He's been really good. I did threaten him with no TV if he got out of the bed.

Since the weather is great (31 degrees today!) I threw Finn into some undies for some casual toilet training. He did 2 poo's on the toilet on the weekend so who knows?
Playing in the backyard. We did venture on a walk to the shops at the top of the street but on the way home we had an accident..thankfully just a pee.

Note the change of underwear.. a not so pleasant accident.

It was so nice on Saturday we packed up and headed to Clovelly Beach for some fun in the sun. Finn had a great time and the water wasn't too cold.

We have been back a week now and I am just getting over the jetlag. Finn was ok on the flights back except the last one. It was 15.5 hours of HARD work trying to keep him contained on a night flight! We were exhausted by the time we got off the flight.
Anyway we had a great visit with everyone. Here are some of the pics (had to cull from hundreds!!)
